1) Make sure TVs and computer monitors aren't left on standby - they still use 80% of the energy needed when they're switched on.
2) Swapping ordinary light bulbs for energy saving ones. Just one energy efficient light bulb can save £10-a-year on electricity bills.
3) Cut down on food miles by getting a vegetable box home-delivered or buying produce at a farmers market or farm shop (www.farmersmarkets.net).
4) Recycle aluminium cans; the energy saved by recycling one aluminium can is enough to power a TV for three hours.
5) Take a short break in Wales. One long-haul return flight can produce more carbon dioxide per passenger than a UK motorist produces in a year.
6) Share the school run or walk/cycle your children to school. Liftshare helps you find other parents to share the school run (www.school-run.org).
7) Around a third of our household waste is kitchen and garden waste. Recycle it - many councils collect food waste for composting.
8) Buy local and seasonal food where possible. Getting produce out of season may mean importing it by air. Avoid all air-freighted foods.
9) Change your fuel. Many cars can use biofuels - made from oil seed rape or sugar beet - with little modification (www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk).
10 An estimated 80% of car tires are under-inflated, which can increase fuel consumption by up to 5%.
